Happy Birthday to ME!!

Yes you heard it here. It is my birthday today. I am officially nineteen years old today.

My present just got delivered today. My parents got me the the MAD Archives Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Both volumes cover the first twelve issues of MAD (back when it was a comic book). It features wonderful artwork from Early Mad regulars such as:

Jack Davis

Bill Elder

Harvey Kurtzman

John Severin

Wally Wood
and the unmistakable Basil Wolverton

I'll give you a review of these books at a later date.

Happy birthday! You and I could be brothers, if only because my brother is a decade younger than me.

Your gift was quite certainly well chosen. I am certain that Mr. Kurtzman edited a very excellent comic book.

Sir, I was wondering whether your blog was named for the R. Crumb comic.

It always slips my mind to ask you.

Good call on the Natwick. It really encapsulates his styles (Snow White Realism / Betty Boop Cartooniness).

You can read original L'il Abners here:

Did you notice something odd about button 23?

I know this is really late, but, happy birthday. Sorry about never responding to your comments, a bit of a hiccup on my part(never turning on the forward comments option, hence me not seeing them until recently).

Hopefully this helps:
