I need to improve my draftsmanship before I can even begin to draw like Hogarth.Eric Noblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05872046921674512158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2938854404274599496.post-34536909936716989962010-09-09T13:35:27.804-07:002010-09-09T13:35:27.804-07:00I have to go with Foster, one of the great illustr...I have to go with Foster, one of the great illustrators. Hogarth is a great teacher and his books on anatomy are the bible to me. They don't look like real humans but the construction makes it all too clear how things are put together.Jimbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01500622845539257850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2938854404274599496.post-51655645501957603512010-09-06T16:51:55.295-07:002010-09-06T16:51:55.295-07:00I like the second one cause he has better muscles....I like the second one cause he has better muscles. :)Micarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09714805674372120353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2938854404274599496.post-4050771127905242912010-09-06T09:22:52.237-07:002010-09-06T09:22:52.237-07:00Steven - Yeah, the Tarzan strip was, at least duri...Steven - Yeah, the Tarzan strip was, at least during the run of the first two artists, were a hybrid of text story and comic. In some strange way, it worked. Hal Foster would continue to use this method on Prince Valiant.

Robert - Yeah, Burne Hogarth definitely brings a sense of energy to his work. However, I prefer Hal Foster's sense of composition. It's much clearer and more readable to me.Eric Noblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05872046921674512158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2938854404274599496.post-5309280783136607172010-09-06T09:13:17.921-07:002010-09-06T09:13:17.921-07:00I've never heard of these Tarzan comic strips ...I've never heard of these Tarzan comic strips before, but based on what you've posted here, I think I would prefer Burne Hogarth's version of the classic story, even though the draftsmanship in the first strip is also superb.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2938854404274599496.post-18955038113260922312010-09-06T01:54:30.133-07:002010-09-06T01:54:30.133-07:00I'm afraid I can't answer the question sin...I'm afraid I can't answer the question since I don't know a lot about Tarzan.

But, this comic appears to be as a text story just like a comic but with no speech bubbles. We had text story comics during the early days of the Beano and the Dandy even though I don't own any of the old ones and the oldest comic I have of the Beano only goes as far back as 1987.Steven Hartleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13825398324719609394noreply@blogger.com
